On the right a wooden dock or quay juts into the water where two figures stand near the edge, and behind them a row of trees lines the riverbank leading to a cluster of buildings with pitched roofs. A tall lamppost rises near the shoreline, and the sky above is filled with heavy, streaked clouds. Intricate linework emphasizes the wave motion, foliage textures, and the wood and fabric details of the carriage.
