In the foreground a variety of figures and animals are depicted among scattered barrels, a fallen drum, and other objects; two riders on horseback are moving away from the viewer near the center while smoke and flags rise around a row of battlements that stretch across the middle ground. Along the right edge a round tower with flags and smoke is visible, and nearer the left foreground a draped tent or cloth hangs from the tree while small groups of people stand or sit beneath it. The image is rendered in fine engraved lines with detailed foliage and architectural silhouettes.
