The middle ground presents houses with steep roofs, chimneys, and fences, and a small herd of grazing animals near a path. In the distant background a calm sea stretches to the horizon with a small sailing vessel and a faint line of ships, while above thin horizontal lines and soft cloud shapes fill the sky.
