Rheinfels, View through a gate of the ruins of Rheinfels Castle, print, printmaker: Cornelia Christina Johanna van Trigt-Hoevenaar (signed by artist), 1864 - 1909, paper, lithography, lithografie, height 480 mm x width 321 mm, ruin of a dwelling, house, castle, Rhineland-Palatinate, Rheinfels Castle, A monochrome drawing shows a rough stone archway framing a view of an old ruined structure beyond. The arch has textured, worn surfaces and casts shadow along its inner curve. Through the arch, remnants of a building with uneven walls and arched openings are visible, including a taller section with a window-like opening and another lower opening beside it. The ground inside and outside the arch appears irregular and strewn with rubble and vegetation. The sky beyond the ruins is a pale, even tone contrasting with the darker, heavily shaded stonework. The overall image has a grainy, sketch-like quality with varied pencil or charcoal strokes emphasizing texture.
