The etching is mounted on an album page featuring (presumably by the artist himself) a pen-written table of contents of a print album containing works by and after Flemish and Dutch painters, including Nicolaas Maas, Willem de Heus, Pieter van Slingeland, Pieter Bout, and others., printmaker: Giovanni David, Italy, commissioner (person who orders works): Giacomo Durazzo (possibly), c. 1774 - c. 1776, commissioner (person who orders works), paper, etching, mounted on an album page with pasted edges and inscriptions in pen (presumably by the artist), height 308 mm x width 230 mm, height 650 mm x width 500 mm, The print was presumably commissioned by Giacomo Durazzo, who, like David, was from Genoa and resided in Venice, to serve as a title page for one or more albums in his print collection of works from the Dutch and Flemish schools. Compare a second page with similar inscriptions for an album of works from the Dutch and Flemish schools (Newcome Schleier-Grassi 2003, no. 160a). Durazzo's print collection comprised 30, 000 sheets and was donated by him to Albert von Sachsen in 1774 and forms part of the collection of the Albertina in Vienna.
