Behind it is a large classical building with a triple-arched facade, flanked by two towers with pitched roofs topped by small flags, and additional multi-story buildings with rows of rectangular windows extend to the left and right. Small groups of people in robes and cloaks are scattered across the square, some walking and some standing in pairs or trios. Low shrubs and patches of grass appear at the edges of the square and a distant hill rises on the right horizon. The sky is blank and the image is bordered by a simple rectangular frame.
