According to a note on the verso, the print was on p. 76 of this album., mourning the dead, needle, obelisk (marking grave), A tall triangular monument topped with a small sphere stands on a rectangular base framed by leafy plants, with a draped garland hanging from near its top and a decorative urn set into its front face; to the left of the monument a standing robed figure reaches down toward a small child who holds a cloth, and to the right two seated cherubic children lean against the base with one child resting a hand on the other's shoulder; beneath the base a horizontal platform is decorated with entwined foliage and a skull and crossed implements, and decorative plants rise behind the monument against a light, textured background.
