Print originating from a scrapbook with title prints, ornaments etc. on blue paper, disassembled in 1983. According to a note on the verso, the print was on p. 203 of this album., cities represented allegorically or symbolically, Venice, Genoa, A detailed engraving shows a waterfront cityscape with classical buildings, towers, domes, and a tall campanile rising above a square beside a canal with small boats and gondolas. In the foreground a seated woman in draped clothing and a beaded necklace holds a circular shield bearing a reclining lion figure while her other hand grasps the edge of a large billowing cloth held aloft by cherubic putti. Two winged putti cling to and support the draped cloth while a third above blows a long trumpet and holds a flowing banner. The sky above is filled with textured clouds and a flag flies from a mast at the right. At the bottom foreground there are rolled parchments and scattered objects lying on the ground near the woman.
