Parts one and two appeared in 1612. The third part appeared in 1615 and part four appeared in 1628. In 1637 Vitale Mascardi published the first reissue of the entire set with numbering., garden, hôtel, i.e. small palace in city, Celio, Villa Celimontana, A bird’s-eye ink engraving of a formal garden with many rectangular planted beds separated by straight paths and bordered by low walls, showing rows of small stylized trees and shrubs in organized patterns; the layout includes a central avenue lined with trees leading to an ornate building with columns, nearby a circular fountain with sculptural figures and a tall obelisk, several small pavilions and classical structures scattered through the grounds, geometric parterres with decorative planting designs, terraces and stepped areas, numerous statues and ornamental urns placed along walkways and on pedestals, angled triangular beds on a raised terrace, perimeter walls and gated entrances around the site, and a large ornate oval cartouche with heraldic decoration at the lower corner.
