Parts one and two appeared in 1612. The third part appeared in 1615 and part four appeared in 1628. In 1637 Vitale Mascardi published the first reissue of the entire set with numbering., garden, hôtel, i.e. small palace in city, Pincio, Villa Medici (Rome), An engraved bird’s-eye view of a formal walled garden and large palace, showing a central building with symmetrical towers and a grand entrance facing a courtyard with a circular fountain and steps, parterre gardens laid out in geometric beds with ornamental patterns and small fountains, rows of clipped trees and topiary in urns, terraces and balustrades, long covered walkways and colonnaded walls, a perimeter wall with a small tower and flag, sculptural figures and statues placed along terraces and near entrances, densely planted rectangular garden compartments with hedged alleys, a crest-like oval cartouche near the top left, and distant hills suggested behind the complex.
