Figures in period dress walk and converse around the pool and along paths, some in small groups and some accompanied by children. Tall, leafy trees line the paths on both sides, forming shaded avenues with clipped hedges and freestanding classical busts mounted on plinths at intervals. In the background a distant architectural opening is visible between the trees. Several small dogs run or stand on the nearest lawn area. The sky above is lightly shaded with horizontal hatching suggesting clouds, and the entire scene is framed by a plain decorative border.
