This print is part of an album., printmaker: Jan van Troyen, Southern Netherlands (possibly), after painting by David Teniers (II), after painting by Jacopo Palma (il Giovane), Italy, Brussels, grantor of privilege: Spanish crown, 1660, paper, etching, height 235 mm x width 171 mm, David Teniers probably produced an oil study on canvas or panel (so-called pasticcio) of all the paintings in the collection of Leopold William of Austria, which served as models for the printmakers. It is not always clear whether the pasticci were made by him or by his studio. Not all pasticci have survived., 'Salvator Mundi', making a blessing gesture, an orb in his hand or at his feet, A detailed black and white engraving of a bearded man with long wavy hair and a radiant halo behind his head, wearing flowing draped robes; his right hand is raised with fingers slightly apart while his left hand rests on a rounded object, and his facial expression shows wide eyes and a slightly open mouth; the background is densely crosshatched dark shading within a bordered rectangular frame, and the lower edge shows a narrow margin with small printed inscriptions.
