In the foreground a person wearing flowing robes and a conical hat sits astride a horse facing away, the horse shown in detail with visible mane and bridle. To the left a seated figure holds an open folding fan while another figure stands behind holding a large fringed umbrella over them; both wear period clothing and hats. Birds fly across the sky above the scene. On the right shore there are clustered buildings with varied roofs, a tower with a pointed roof, and small trees and shrubs around them. Further right, two figures on horseback move along a path and a standing figure gestures toward two animals that appear to be running. Vegetation including grasses, small plants, and a few palm-like trees dot the terrain, and rocky outcrops and stylized clouds shape the distant horizon.
