Print is part of an album., printmaker: Pieter Schenk (II), Amsterdam, 1727 - 1775, paper, etching, height 164 mm x width 262 mm, Chinese, water course, A wide ink drawing shows a riverside scene with a pavilion on the right featuring an ornate roof, patterned panels, hanging drapery, and figures looking toward the water; a seated child and standing adults appear on the pavilion terrace while another person leans on the railing. In the left foreground a robed woman walks along the shore while a man nearby holds a decorative parasol; trees with spindly leaves frame the shore. In the middle distance boats with sails occupy the water and a small town with clustered buildings and a tower sits along the far bank beneath low hills. Waterfowl swim near the pavilion and plants grow along the river edge, while two birds fly overhead against a pale sky.
