Print is part of an album., printmaker: Pieter Schenk (II), Amsterdam, 1727 - 1775, unknown, grantor of privilege, paper, etching, height 164 mm x width 262 mm, Chinese, tools, implements of draughtsman, A black and white line drawing shows several people in traditional dress arranged around a decorative screen and a framed panel; on the left two standing figures face away and hold a large fan and a pole, one wearing layered robes with patterned cuffs and a sash and the other wearing a simpler robe and hair tied back, both with patterned shoes. In the center a seated person in ornate clothing and a hat kneels on a patterned mat holding a scroll and pointing, with a basket and tools at their side. To the right a seated figure with an elaborate hairstyle and flowing sleeves sits on a carved stool and gestures with one hand, while behind them another person stands holding a painted panel with landscape motifs. Above the framed panel there is a perched bird, and the screen behind the figures displays a landscape scene with trees, rocks, a small pavilion, and a boat on water. The composition is bordered by a thin rectangular frame.
