Album with prints on natural history, print album, Album with 52 prints on 50 album pages in an oblong calfskin binding. The album contains various print series with 'nature' as the subject in the broadest sense of the word. The album contains two series on the four seasons, a series on the five senses, a series of gods and goddesses by printmaker Crispijn van de Passe (I), the series Bestiarium quadrupedum Vivae Icones on land animals, the series Avium Vivae Icones on birds, the series Piscium Vivae Icones on fish and finally the series of flowers. The album was possibly compiled in Antwerp. Three blank pages at the front, six blank pages at the back. Presumably glue residue from photo corners on the endpapers. A horse is drawn on one of the leaves at the back, inscription: 'BK', printmaker: Frederik Bouttats (I), printmaker: Crispijn van de Passe (I), Low Countries, after design by Adriaen Collaert, publisher: Maria Cnobbaert, c. 1635 - c. 1660, leather, biological material, paper, calf (leather), binding, engraving, album with calfskin binding, bound engravings, height 136 mm x width 184 mm x thickness 17 mm, width 377 mm, A mottled brown surface covered with irregular dark brown circular and blotchy stains of varying sizes, with subtle scratches and texture across the background and a few small areas of worn or frayed edges.
