Several adult figures stand and bend, some with hats, one with a bowed head, and others leaning over a small child who faces away from the viewer. One figure appears seated or reclined on the ground with legs bent, another figure embraces a child or smaller person. In the background there is a horizontal expanse suggesting water or low land with distant, low mounds and sparse, thin trees or reeds rising up and leaning. The sky above is filled with long, horizontal, textured strokes. In the foreground there are small objects on the ground near the seated figure, and detailed shading emphasizes the folds of garments and the contours of bodies throughout the scene.
