Topographia Galliae, oder Beschreibung und Contrafaitung der vornehmbsten und bekantisten Oerter in dem mächtigen und grossen Königreich Frankreich, 13 parts. Frankfurt am Main: Caspar Merian, 1655-1661. The print was first published in volume 1: Topographia Galliae, 1655. The print has been torn along the top edge of the image. The upper part has been pasted higher, so that the sky has become higher and the size of the image matches the other large-format images in the album. The image has been supplemented at the top with a painted sky., palace, Palais du Luxembourg, A wide architectural drawing shows a classical palace facade with a central domed pavilion flanked by symmetrical multi-story wings, each wing featuring rows of windows with shutters, detailed stonework, and steep blue-gray roofs with chimneys; the foreground is a sandy plaza with small figures walking, leading animals, and a few mounted riders, all rendered in muted colors; above the buildings the sky displays layered watercolor clouds in pale blues, pinks, and lavender with soft horizontal streaks.
