The print was first published in part 1: Topographia Galliae, 1655., church (exterior), Église Notre-Dame-des-Champs, A pale sky with layered bands of blue, pink, and yellow and stylized lavender clouds fills the upper portion of the image, above a stone church with twin spires and a central rose window flanked by arched windows, attached buildings with blue-gray roofs, rows of rectangular windows, and a decorative arched entrance. In front of the church a courtyard and pathways are bounded by low hedges and geometric garden beds, with small groups of people wearing long garments walking or standing. Trees with green foliage appear at the left and right edges, and additional classical buildings with mansard roofs and chimneys line the scene, all rendered in delicate washes of color and fine linework.
