The representation is supplemented at the top with a painted sky., city-view in general, 'veduta', A wide horizontal scene dominated by a pale sky with soft bands of blue, pink, and cream and wispy cloud shapes, below which a walled town stretches across the middle ground with numerous tiled roofs, church towers, and a large cathedral-like building with a tall spire and ornate facade, surrounded by green rolling hills. In the foreground gently undulating fields and paths are shown in earthy tones, with small human figures and animals engaged in simple activities: a person leading a pack animal, another on horseback, and two seated figures atop a small rise near a dog. The composition uses delicate watercolor washes and fine engraved lines to render architecture, landscape, and distant horizontal bands of land and water.
