To her left a large vertical beam or pillar rises from floor to ceiling beneath a shelf holding small vessels and a bowl. In the darker background a window with panes and a ledge is visible, along with shelving and indistinct shapes. A wooden bucket sits on the floor near the base of the pillar, and a patterned stone or tile floor extends across the foreground. The lighting creates contrasts of shadow and light across the walls, floor, and figure.
