Langlois at the same address., triumphal arch, Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, A large ornate triumphal arch stands at the center with three arched openings flanked by decorated columns and sculptural reliefs, a statue atop its roof, and detailed ornamental panels; in front and around the arch an open plaza is populated by numerous small figures walking, standing in groups, and riding horses, as well as several horse-drawn carriages and carts; rows of trees form avenues behind and to the sides of the arch, with a distant townscape of low buildings and spires on the horizon under a sky filled with horizontal line shading and scattered clouds; the entire scene is rendered in a monochrome engraved style with fine line work and hatching.
