Several sailboats with tall masts and triangular sails are moored or drifting; some sails are shaded in a soft tan while others are left light. In the foreground a small rowboat with a dark sail has a person wearing a blue garment seated at the stern, leaning forward toward a bundle or coiled rope. Low, distant shoreline vegetation and a cluster of simple buildings with steeples and peaked roofs sit along the horizon. The overall palette is muted with delicate pencil and wash strokes and sparse detailing.
