One sheep stands facing forward while others rest on the ground with curled bodies and woolly coats. The shelter has a dark interior and a slatted, weathered door leaning at an angle. In the background there are masses of trees and leafy canopies and a suggestion of open ground with tufts of grass and low vegetation in the foreground. The overall image is rendered in detailed shading and line work, creating contrasts between the animals, the tree bark, and the surrounding foliage.
