To the left and in the background, several more figures in military and formal attire stand or sit on chairs, their faces turned toward the center. The table is covered with a cloth that hangs to the floor and supports a small decorative box and papers. Ornate architectural details, including pilasters and carved moldings, frame the scene, and richly patterned textiles and a rug cover parts of the floor. The overall image is rendered in fine tonal shading with detailed line work.
