Brussels: François Foppens, 1682. The book was also published in Amsterdam in 1682 by the heirs of Daniel Elzevier. Each portrait is an illustration accompanying the biography of an artist or scholar. Most of the portraits were produced by Nicolas de Larmessin (162), 93 by De Boulonois and a third by unidentified printmakers. This concerns an illustration on p. 190, part II., Person, Muretus, historical persons, scholar, philosopher, A sepia-toned engraved portrait of a man shown from the chest up inside an oval frame, wearing a fur-trimmed cloak and a wide collar, with short hair, a mustache and a beard, and a neutral expression while looking slightly to one side; the oval sits within a rectangular background filled with fine parallel lines and above and below the portrait are blocks of printed text and decorative elements, including an ornate initial with foliage and a patterned background.
