Flemish interior with a woman at the kitchen table, Intérieur Flamand, print, mark: 'Antwerpsche Etsers 1880', printmaker: Charles Boom (signed by artist), 1886 - 1887, paper, etching, intaglio printmaking technique, height 247 mm x width 317 mm, A dimly lit interior scene rendered in monochrome shows a woman seated on a wooden chair at a table, her back and profile visible as she leans slightly forward with her hands near the tabletop; she wears a shawl and a head covering. The room contains heavy drapery hanging over a large bed or alcove area, a small window with panes that opens to an outside view of trees and sky, and a rough-hewn countertop with a lidded pot. A large rounded jar with two handles stands near the table, and a shallow bowl or loaf rests on the table surface. Shelves or a beam above hold round objects resembling plates, and patterned fabric trims a high shelf. The floor shows scattered debris and the walls and furnishings display dense crosshatched shading and textured lines.
