A lamppost stands near the rubble and a tree with dense foliage appears to the right. In the lower right area, four men stand grouped together, two of them holding walking sticks, while another man stands slightly apart facing the group. Inset at the lower left is a smaller sketch of a damaged building facade with arched entrances and debris piled at its base. The sky above is lightly hatched and the overall image is rendered with fine linework and crosshatching.
