A wide-brimmed hat with a ribbon hangs from the balustrade near the reaching girl. Potted foliage and a large ornate planter with trailing leaves flank the scene on either side of the girls, and dense leafy trees form a shaded background. The balustrade has decorative cutouts, and the water below reflects the rod and a small hooked line. The drawing is detailed with soft shading and fine pencil or charcoal strokes.
