In front of the ruin, there are trees and hedges interspersed among a cluster of houses with pitched roofs, one roof tiled and another thatched, and a stone house with visible windows and a doorway. In the foreground a sloping grassy field leads down toward a low stone wall and scattered farm materials, including bundled branches and a wooden cart wheel. The sky above is pale and expansive, occupying the upper portion of the image.
