The top section features a heading area with large dark lettering and a decorative line beneath it. The illustrated panels include maritime scenes with sailing ships on choppy seas, including a multi-masted warship and smaller vessels, views of a rocky shoreline with waves breaking and boats near the shore, and a lighthouse standing amid turbulent waters. Other panels depict a battle at sea with sailing ships exchanging cannon fire and smaller craft in the foreground, a group of people on a beach pulling a boat from shallow water, a classical allegorical scene with winged figures floating over a sea, interior domestic scenes showing people gathered in a room with furniture and a stove and another room with people around a table and household items, and a portrait of a seated man shown in profile. Narrow vertical bands alongside the framed images contain short vertical blocks of bold markings. The overall tone is monochromatic, printed in sepia with fine engraved detail and textured shading.
