Griggs, c. 1861 - in or before 1866, photographer, printer (person), paper, albumen print, height 258 mm x width 202 mm, historical persons - BB - woman, fashion, clothing, A faded sepia sheet contains several photographic portraits arranged vertically; near the top there are three seated men wearing patterned robes and head coverings, the central figure seated cross-legged with ornate patterned trousers, flanked by two men seated with draped shawls and turbans; below them a rectangular vignette shows three bearded men seated on a patterned carpet in front of a quilted backdrop, each wearing richly embroidered garments and headwraps, with curved swords and a round shield visible near their hands; further down are three arched portraits showing standing and seated figures in traditional long robes and turbans, one seated man resting on a chair beside a standing companion and another standing man beside a draped column, all rendered in the same pale monochrome tone, and a circular library stamp in blue appears near the lower right corner.
