In the background along the shore there are boats with tall masts and sails, stacked planks and nets, and a row of small buildings with pitched roofs. Several other people stand or walk near the buildings and along the dock, and a tree rises behind the roofs. The ground near the water appears uneven and strewn with ropes or timber, and a railing runs along the edge of the dock.
