Erdmann, Mainz, c. 1867 - in or before 1872, Rhineland-Palatinate, paper, albumen print, height 186 mm x width 152 mm, village square, Place, A street scene showing two adjacent multi-story buildings separated by a narrow passage and framed by a broad empty pavement in the foreground. The left building has a smooth facade with rectangular and arched windows, a pitched roof with small dormers and a chimney, and three arched doorways at ground level with decorative fanlights above two of them. The right building has a masonry facade with regularly spaced arched windows on both visible floors, a prominent cornice with bracketed eaves, and a raised stone base. Between the buildings, a small open area reveals a statue on a pedestal and some ornamental lamp posts, with a few potted shrubs near the entrance to the passage.
