Several boats are moored along the canal edge, some tied to posts and a rounded bollard in the foreground, with reflections visible in the water. The cobbled pavement runs along the canal in the foreground. On the buildings, many windows and carved architectural details are visible, and a tall mast or pole stands beside one of the structures. Wagons and wooden carts are lined along the quay beside the buildings. The overall image has a sepia tone.
