The other man stands with one hand resting near his waist and the other arm relaxed, dressed in a long coat with decorative trim, a sash across his chest, a wide-brimmed feathered hat, boots with turned toes, and a sword and powder horn at his side. The table is simple with crossed legs and small objects on top, and the floor beneath shows scattered small items and a folded piece of paper. In the background a substantial architectural ledge with draped fabric and fluted columns is visible against a plain wall.
