Entrance portal of the Saint Lawrence Chapel of the Strasbourg Cathedral, photograph, page, photographer: Charles David Winter, Strasbourg (France), c. 1851 - in or before 1861, paper, albumen print, height 148 mm x width 110 mm, sculpture (relief, sculpture), parts of church exterior and annexes: portal, Notre-Dame (Strasbourg), A tall ornate doorway set into a stone façade with carved panels and a central wooden double door framed by decorative molding, above which sits an elaborate canopy of pointed arches and foliated tracery with sculpted figures and relief work; flanking the entrance are clustered vertical columns with pinnacles and niches containing statues of robed figures standing on small plinths, and additional carved architectural ornamentation fills the upper facade with repeating quatrefoil patterns and intricate stone latticework.
