One man stands leaning forward with curly hair, a long coat with large cuffs and pockets, stockings and buckled shoes, while the other sits in a chair wearing a fur-trimmed coat and holds a large folded map or sheet that drapes across both their laps. Behind them is a cabinet with its doors open revealing rolled papers and spherical objects on top, and a wall with horizontal shading suggesting texture. A sword hangs at the seated man's side and a stool and small table are visible near the standing figure, with additional folded papers on the floor. The composition is detailed with fine crosshatching and linear shading throughout.
