Five uniformed men in military attire stand around the table, wearing high-collared coats with epaulettes and sashes; one man faces the viewer while the others stand in profile or with backs partially turned. A chair and small stool sit near the table, and a cat stands on the stool. On the left a shelf built into the wall holds bottles and small containers, and a man stands nearby holding a hat. Trunks, cases, and a rolled bundle occupy the foreground and corners of the room, and a doorway on the right shows a partially visible arm of another figure emerging into the scene. The image is rendered with fine crosshatching and detailed line work.
