Amsterdam: Willem Coertse, 1790., Period, 1788-02, A detailed pen-and-ink scene shows a street with a group of people gathered in front of a row of brick buildings with shuttered windows and an awning, a tree partially visible behind them, and a tall arched window set into a large wall to the left; men in period clothing stand and gesture, some holding long poles or tools and one holding a hat aloft, while others appear to be working on or lifting a large chained chest or cart; figures include adults and a child, many wearing hats or caps and coats, and the ground shows textured shading and scattered shadows.
