In the foreground a group of people face a procession of uniformed figures marching across the courtyard, some of the marchers carrying a flag held upright showing a decorative emblem. The crowd includes men, women, and children in period clothing with coats, hats, and dresses, several people gesturing toward the marchers, and a few dogs running and leaping on the ground. The sky above the buildings is filled with textured clouds rendered in fine lines.
