On the sheet below the plate an explanation of the representation and a verse in two columns. A pendant belongs to the plate., printmaker, Northern Netherlands, paper, etching, engraving, letterpress printing, engraving and book printing, height 383 mm x width 243 mm, Person, States of Holland and West Friesland, Wilhelmina of Prussia (1751-1820), monument, statue, the all-seeing eye, triangle with eye, symbol of God the Father, homage to a ruler, Patriot Era (1780-1795), Period, 1786-09 - 1786-10, A detailed engraving shows a central female figure standing on a pedestal, wearing a long draped dress and armor-like bodice, holding a tall spear and a large theatrical mask that hangs beside her; rays of light emanate from an eye in the sky above and spread across the scene. To the left a seated woman in flowing garments looks upward, kneeling on the ground, while behind her a building facade with a column and balustrade appears at the edge. To the right a tall column topped with a small standing figure rises from a stack of oval medallions bearing faces, and further right a distant town with towers and small horse-drawn carriages lines the horizon. At the pedestal base a shield-like emblem is visible, a rooster stands on the foreground ground, and a seated man bends forward using a long pole near a box-like structure decorated with faces and topped by an ornamental cone. The sky contains textured clouds and fine cross-hatching throughout the composition.
