Stated on the print: Diagraphe et Pantographe Gavard., Person, Louis XIV (King of France), capture of city (after the siege), Year of Disaster, Naarden, Period, 1672-06-12, A tall rectangular pen-and-ink landscape framed by a thin border shows a distant walled town with a church tower on a flat horizon, a large open sky with wispy cloud lines, and a foreground scene of a procession of mounted riders and marching figures moving along a dirt path through low undulating ground with scattered bushes and clumps of vegetation; tall slender trees with textured foliage rise on both sides of the composition, framing the central view, and groups of people and horses are drawn with fine line detail, some clustered in the middle distance and others nearer to the viewer among rocks and grassy patches.
