On the road near the foreground, three mounted figures ride horses while two standing figures in period clothing walk nearby; further along the road a small group leads pack animals and a covered wagon. A cluster of tall, slender trees with textured foliage occupies the midground to the right, and more scattered trees and low vegetation extend toward the horizon where outlines of rooftops and church spires are visible. The sky above contains sparse, lightly sketched clouds.
