On this page the legend to the central map, in French., printmaker, writer (clerical worker), France, Charles Delorme, paper, engraving, height 584 mm x width 162 mm, Ile de Ré, Period, 1627, A tall, narrow printed page with decorative borders and scrollwork, containing a centered title in large capital letters at the top followed by several lines of smaller printed text, and a long vertical list of handwritten entries in neat cursive filling the central column, each entry preceded by a small handwritten mark; the left and right margins feature twin vertical rule lines and ornamental carved-wood style corner flourishes at the bottom, with a small floral or shell motif centered in the lowest margin; the paper shows slight discoloration and faint spots consistent with age.
