On this sheet the legend to the central map, in French., printmaker, France, paper, engraving, height 565 mm, width 162 mm, La Rochelle, Period, 1627 - 1628, A tall, narrow printed page featuring a densely packed column of small serif text arranged in two main vertical columns beneath a large title at the top, flanked by decorative patterned borders on both sides; the title is centered and set in larger capital letters. The text columns are composed of many short lines separated by small gaps, with occasional short headings or marginal symbols preceding some lines. Near the bottom center of the page there is a small numerical mark, and the very bottom edge shows an ornate engraved illustration of a draped cloth or scroll with a pointed, stylized finial rising from the center, rendered in fine linework. The paper has a slightly aged, off-white tone and the printed ink is a dark brown or black.
