On the other side of the river lies the underworld, where Psyche encounters a man with a donkey. Italian text in two cartouches in the lower margin. Numbered twice lower left: 25., Bartsch 63-1(2), The Illustrated Bartsch 63, printmaker: Master of the Dice, Italy, after design by Michiel Coxie (I), c. 1530 - c. 1560, paper, engraving, intaglio printmaking technique, engraving with plate tone, height 195 mm x width 227 mm, A detailed black and white engraving shows a shoreline scene with a small boat drawn up near rocky ground; three partially clothed figures stand near or in the boat, one kneeling on the rocks holding a staff and looking toward the water, a central standing woman in a draped dress holding a cup and facing outward, and a muscular man bent over in the boat gripping an oar. In the background a person leads a pack animal along the shore toward a second standing figure who raises an arm, and the sky above is filled with layered clouds. The foreground includes textured rocks and small plants, and the lower edge of the image features decorative scroll elements framing the scene.
