The water surface around them is rendered with broad horizontal strokes and rippling lines. In the distant background there are simple blocky structures with pitched roofs on the left and two small, upright figures walking along the horizon on the right, one wearing a tall hat and the other holding a rounded parasol. The overall scene is composed in shades of gray with varied pencil textures and shading.
