According to a note on the verso, the print was located on p. 188 of this album., Person, William Dampier, globe, landscapes in the non-temperate zone, exotic landscapes, exploration, expedition, voyage of discovery, A detailed sepia-toned engraving shows a coastal scene with a large palm tree at left and distant rocky hills and cliffs across a body of water, where two dome-roofed huts stand on stilts above the shore and a small rowboat floats nearby; an elephant with visible tusks and trunk stands at right by the water’s edge, a long-necked camel-like animal rests in the foreground near vegetation, and a partially submerged camel appears in the water; a seated man with long hair, a ruffled collar, and draped clothing sits near the left foreground beside an open book and a globe-like instrument, while two unclothed figures embrace near the palm tree behind him; various plants and decorative objects lie in the foreground among ropes and vessels, and a low-built structure or platform extends into the water where a small human figure can be seen by the huts.
