In the foreground a group of standing and kneeling people interact, some reaching toward others and some restraining or pulling, while dogs and small animals move among them. To the left a rocky slope hosts seated figures near a barrel, one holding a staff or spear and others with draped garments. In the middle distance a calm body of water reflects ships and distant buildings beneath a range of mountains. To the right tall trees rise above a figure standing beside a large flag on a pole and other figures clustered nearby. The sky is densely etched with horizontal lines and cloud forms, and fine crosshatching defines textures throughout the composition.
